OPS calls jump in state aid a first step

The Nebraska Education Department this morning detailed how a major increase in state aid will be divided among individual Nebraska school districts in 2008-09. For the Omaha Public Schools, the news was good: $27.6 million more in aid.

Microsoft makes unexpected $44.6B offer for Internet icon Yahoo

Microsoft Corp. has pounced on slumping Internet icon Yahoo Inc. with an unsolicited takeover offer of $44.6 billion in its boldest bid yet to challenge Google Inc.'s dominance of the lucrative online search and advertising markets. Omahan guilty in death of child

A Douglas County jury today found Omahan Andre Robinson guilty in the November 2006 death of 22-month-old Branesha Thomas. Robinson, 22, was accused of child abuse resulting in death. He will be sentenced in April. He faces 20 years to life in prison.
