A regular meeting of the Seward County Commissioners was convened in open and public session at 9:00 a.m. on March 18, 2008 in the Commissioner’s room at the Seward County Courthouse.  Notice of the meeting was posted on the Courthouse bulleting board and on the Commissioner’s room door.  The agenda for all meetings is kept continually current and is available for public inspection at the County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours.  The agenda is held open until one business day prior to the meeting for appearance before the Board.  The Board of Commissioners has the right to modify the agenda to include items of an emergency nature only at such public meeting.

Commissioner Ruzicka called the meeting to order and noted that the public meeting information is posted as required by law and available for public distribution if requested.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Moved by Miller and seconded by Stuhr to approve the minutes of March 11, 2008.

Affirmative vote: Miller, Stuhr, Dedic, Koci, Ruzicka                        Motion Carried.

 

Moved by Miller and seconded by Stuhr to go into Executive Session at 9:02 a.m. to discuss a Personnel issue.

Affirmative vote: Miller, Stuhr, Dedic, Koci, Ruzicka                         Motion Carried.

 

Commissioner Koci excused herself at 10:11 a.m. due to a conflict of interest.

 

Commissioner Koci returned at 10:21 a.m.

 

Moved by Miller and seconded by Dedic to go out of Executive Session at 10:22 a.m.

Affirmative vote: Miller, Dedic, Stuhr, Koci, Ruzicka                        Motion Carried.

 

Commissioner Ruzicka reiterated that the Executive Session was held to discuss a Personnel issue.

 

The Commissioners recessed at 10:24 a.m.

The Commissioners reconvened at 10:30 a.m.

 

Russ Daehling and Marilyn Hladky were present.

 

Commissioners Reports:

Commissioner Miller had no report.

 

Commissioner Stuhr had no report.

 

Commissioner Dedic met with G & P Development and toured the landfill.  He also attended a Safety Committee meeting, Saline Solid Waste meeting and will be attending a Blue Valley meeting.

 

Commissioner Koci had her first Institute of Excellence class and attended an Extension Board meeting.

 

Commissioner Ruzicka had no report.

 

Russ Daehling was present to discuss the awarding of the Culvert Bids.

 

Moved by Stuhr and seconded Dedic by to award the bid on Riveted Culverts to Metal Culvert, the 2 2/3rd by ½ in Helical and the 5 x 1 helical to Midwest Sales and Services, and the 3 x 1 helical and End Section to Contech and authorized the Chairman to sign the acceptance sheet.
